The Technical Director helps promote awareness and support for the Council through:

  • improving membership services
  • working to increase membership
  • representing PWCC at trade shows   and
  • developing contract and partnership opportunities for PWCC to further its objectives

Jim Richardson, the Council's present Technical Director, has been a member of the Poplar and Willow Council since 1985, and has been a member of the Board of Directors for most of that time. He served as chair from 1992 to 1996. Jim is also active with the International Poplar Commission and has represented Canada on its Executive Committee since 1992.  Prior to his retirement in March 1997, Jim worked for 32 years with CFS, initially as a silviculture researcher in Newfoundland, and latterly as senior science coordinator with Science Branch where he managed a number of operational research support programs, including the ENFOR Program of forest bioenergy R & D.
