The IPS VI Organizing Team donated $500 to each of the three non-profit societies which hosted tour stops on the Post-Symposium Tour.

The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Society, near Chilliwack, BC, was visited the day after the Symposium during the Fraser River Valley Field tour.  Although the herons were long gone by then - their nesting period being over - participants could still see some blue herson nests in the stands of mature black cottonwoods (Populus trichocarpa) along the Vedder River.

The Allan Brooks Nature Centre Society, near Vernon, BC, was on the program for the second day of the Interior Circle Tour.  The Society is dedicated to nature interpretation and habitat conservation in the dry Okanagan ecosystem.

The Gellatly Nut Farm in Kelowna, BC, was the last stop on the way back to Vancouver.  The farm is a four hectare working heritage farm, dedicated to the conservation of a rare collection of various nut trees from around the world.
